The Mang Inasal Balintawak Disappointment

Yesterday was the first time I ate at Mang Inasal, although it's been around for quite a while. I was somehow looking forward to it, since I was quite hungry at the time. My friend who was with me ordered the unlimited rice meal while I just ordered a single serve plate. I also ordered a 16oz Coke Zero to go with it.

Why the first visit was a disappointment and why I wouldn't like to eat there again (at least at that particular branch):
  • The serving time took too long. I mean, it would have been okay if the other people who ordered after us were also waiting but they were already eating! It wasn't as if we ordered something different than those people, so it just screams bloody unfair.
  • They changed my order without consulting me first. Remember when I said that I ordered a 16oz Coke zero? A waiter suddenly approached me and handed me a receipt and 2 php then walked away without even telling me anything. I was quite confused, so I checked the new receipt. When I scanned the new receipt, I saw that they had replaced my 16 oz Coke Zero with a Coke Zero in can! When we were ordering, I specifically asked for the 16 oz. If I wanted the cola in can I would have said so. If they didn't have the item they could have asked first before replacing it. In my opinion they didn't take into consideration what I might have wanted as a replacement. (Yes, I took pictures of the receipts). I sent a message to the number for complaints but I haven't received a reply since.
I am not being biased when I say their food is nothing special. Their barbeque was even quite tough and rubbery to chew on. The chicken which my friend ordered was also a bit tough to chew on.

I guess their only appeal is their unlimited rice for 99php, which is comparatively cheaper when compared to other fast food chains. However, when I think about this incident, I'd rather not eat there and save my hunger for food at home.

Strawberry and Chocolate Cheesecake

The Chocolatier
Ayala, Cebu City

I actually forgot the name of this dessert since the only time I ate it was during Sinulog last January. Looks pretty nice, doesn't it? I just fell in love with it when I saw it on display. My opinion on its taste? It was good in small portions only since the novelty of the taste wears off after half a slice ^^

Mango Delight Cake

Secret Recipe
Robinson's Place Ermita
Php~95

It looked so scrumptious in the menu that I decided to order it among other fresh cream cakes offered. To be honest, it was quite a disappointment. I have to admit it was good, but it was not that good that I'd recommend it. What I noted was that the topping on the top (seen at the picture) did not go very well with the rest of the cake. If it was an attempt to make the cake more flavorful, it failed since the seasoning overpowers the cake.

Verdict: 6/10

Mango Sansrival Gelato Cake

Caramia, Robinson's - Ermita
~110 Php/slice

I returned to the place to eat it again since it was so good! Although compared to the rest of the cake the mango pieces were quite harder and they did not melt in my mouth unlike the rest of the cake, it overall flavor and texture was still good. The chocolate piece was just an extra, which did not really help in enhancing the cake's flavor.

Verdict: 8.5/10
